Micro Braids

August 6th, 2009    Subscribe To Our Feed

Micro braids are a unique hairstyle made up of dozens or hundreds of small single braids. The micro braids have become a fashion icon in modern society as an elegant look particularly popular in the african-american community. Braided hairstyles similar to micro braids are popular throughout western africa.

The micro braided hairstyles can be maintained for several months with proper care when put in correctly. In western society, the style has become a mainstream look for both men and women. Even though this style is still relatively rare, but it is recognized by many fashion experts as a remarkable look.

Micro braids are most commonly worn by african american women to simulate the texture of free-flowing hair. The braids are so delicate and minuscule that they’re barely visible.

With proper care and maintenance, micro braids can last for about three months. Long hair is more susceptible to breakage when it’s styled in separate tiny braids. This fact makes shorter hair preferable for micro braids. Getting good micro braids wants you have your hair treated before hand. You can replenish dry and damaged your hair by using a hot oil treatment. The other good preparation for micro braids may be conditioning and moisturizing the hair.

People with brittle hair or sensitive scalps may want to avoid getting micro braids because the style is demanding on hair. A professional braiding session can take up to 12 hours depending on the length of your hair and the method of braiding used. For those with thin or too short hair, synthetic pieces may be added to create a fuller look with more braids.

If you are on vacation in the bahamas, jamaica, mexico, and many other touristy and tropical areas, the micro braids are most commonly seen on there. But, they are also worn by many people (men, women and children)  in the united states. Most women get braids put in their hair by professional hair stylists. However, those who wear braids on vacation usually get them done by a local woman wandering on the beach asking if anyone wants their hair braided.

Healthy braids take a healthy person. The most important tips in having great hair are to eat nutritious food, get plenty of sleep, drink lots of water, and avoid unnecessary stress. Wearing the micro braids for longer than three months could damage your natural hair. When you ready to take out your braids, snip the braid at the beginning of the extension hair, but make sure not to cut your natural hair.

Cornrows Designs

July 25th, 2009    Subscribe To Our Feed

Cornrows designs are what the most African American talk about hairstyle. Cornrows is perhaps one of the most popular types of African American Hair Braiding Styles. It is a traditional style of hair grooming which requires that the hair is tightly braided very close to the scalp, using an underhand, upward motion to produce a continuous, raised row.

How popular the cornrows designs are to the black American that many people follow their hair style. The cornrows can be formed, as the name implies, in simple, straight lines; or, in complicated geometric or curvilinear designs. The attraction to this style of braiding is the easy maintenance it offers. Cornrows can be left in for weeks at a time simply by carefully washing the hair using a stocking cap or hair net and then regularly oiling the scalp and hair.

There are several reasons why these cornrows designs are all the rage. The simple truth is that when done professionally, braids look fabulous and are convenient for the wearer. In addition to this using braids can actually stimulate growth to cover those thinning, troubled spots. Perhaps the fascination with these hair styles lies in their diversity: the natural and extension braided styles are endless–ranging from close-cropped twists to individual braids, plaits, cornrows, locks, coils, micro-braids, waves and knots…and so many more.

Once you have started the cornrows designs, you are now going to pick up some hair from another area that is near the area that you are braiding. You want to definitely go ahead and add this area to then middle strand and it should be tucked under to make it one thick strand. This will in turn, create the cornrows look that you are trying to achieve.

It really is not all that hard to create the cornrows designs look, you really just need to know how to do it and be willing to learn. Cornrows designs are a fantastic way to do your hair and while you might think at first that it is hard to do, it really isn’t. Just remember to take your time and you will have some beautiful looking cornrows on your head.

Nappy Hair

July 17th, 2009    Subscribe To Our Feed

Nappy hair is the most versatile hair, also the hardest to grow long since its so fine it tends to break. Nappy does go further than african-americans who have this type of hair texture. Nappy hair is the most requested story that published on january 3, 2007 by Linda Jo Smith.

Nappy hair can be more than a funny story about hair. Nappy hair is a meaningful and completely captivating reading experience. Nappy hair is phonetic, and this is where some people take offense iassume (white person imitating black speech). This nappy hair is generally not a flattering look.

The focus of nappy hair story is about the deep african-american roots that are embedded in each strand of brenda’s hair. Just imagine, if you were teaching this book to a class you would want to ask the children whether they have any traits in their family that appear generation after generation.

You would want to make sure that children can relate to brenda’s hair by looking at the way freckles, curly hair, noses, body size, or any other physical feature appears in a student’s family tree. All of these special features need to be celebrated.

Nappy hair is natural hair, but some may see it as negative, especially when it is compared to the straighter stuff. It is part of an ugly history that under girds conversations about race, gender, andappearance. Nappy hair is a great book in the tradition of call and response of black culture, but it leaves a lot to be desired in the positive example department.

Nappy hair is actually fragile and delicate. Nappy hair has many coils, curls, spirals, and bends which are vulnerable to breakage at these particulars. Nappy hair is good hair, strong hair, our crown.

Nappy hair is accessible to people of all ages. African-american women are justifiably proud of their hair and how they care for it. Nappy hair is loose, freshly washed and product free it takes on the appearance of a thick fluffy, cottony, cloud of naps; hence the term cnapp. To find out more about nappy hair texture, you can visit sites on the internet.

Nappy hair is the natural texture of. Afro or sub-saharan african hair. It’s tightly coiled and highly textured. It looks very strong, but is very fragile and breaks quite easily. There are a few ways to detangle nappy hair. You will need a wide tooth detangling comb. Make sure the comb does not have any minute sharp edges along the teeth. Simply use a spray bottle filled with water and 2 - 3 drops of vegetable glycerin.

Ghetto Hairstyles

July 8th, 2009    Subscribe To Our Feed

Ghetto hairstyles are a fashion statement - these hairstyles can be noticed on most of the hip-hop music videos. Ghetto hairstyles are now the “in” thing not only among teenagers but also among adults who want to act cool, sound cool and be cool. A lot of young adults choose to sport this type of hairstyle, whether at parties or gigs but more and more are choosing to have ghetto hairstyles as their everyday look. In the african american community, ghetto hairstyles are most commonly noted for the extensive braids used to control the hair and the grease which keeps the hair soft.

Ghetto hairstyles are becoming more and more popular and many people especially the poorer sections of the communities in the states are crazy for this new hairstyle not only because it has emerged as fashion statement but it is also quite inspiring and attractive. Just like any hairstyles, wearing ghetto hairstyles alone won’t make you look cool or attractive.

Ghetto hairstyles are cool and hip which not all of us are. The most important thing in sporting any kind of hairstyle is to be able to wear it and carry it as if you own it. This is a very important factor especially if you are considering sporting a ghetto hairstyle.

Another distinguishing aspect of this ghetto style is addition of hair extensions to create volume and to lengthen one’s natural hair. Hair coloring is also important to the ghetto hairstyles look. The most popular colors are the bold, bright ones like green, blue, purple, burgundy, and so on. In fact, looking bold is what makes the ghetto hairstyles what they are.

Presently, ghetto hairstyles are often adopted by people of various races and cultures who simply need to get across barriers. The use of hair accessories is sometimes highly distinctive for ghetto hairstyles: such elements bring a visibility factor at first while also playing a very functional and practical role: that of keeping the hairstyle in place. Ball pins, colorful hair pins, barrettes and similar accessories play the major part here. Ghetto hairstyles also need complementation from the rest of the outfits, not to mention the importance of the attitude for the matter.

Ghetto hairstyles are far from just being concentrated to the poverty-stricken inner-city area. But now, ghetto has a different connotation altogether. It is no longer concentrated to a particular location but is also a thinking mode adopted by people across any barriers. One of the most integral components of donning aghetto hairstyle is to add hair extensions or to weave the hair if necessary to create volume and also to lengthen one’s natural hair if it is too short.

During this time, the ghetto hairstyles became increasingly more creative and expressive. There are creative braids as well as creative buns that are implemented in ways that were not common outside of the ghetto and hip hop society. Weaves and extensions also became come popular, as had other products that help to hold the hair in place and keep a soft and healthy texture.

Ghetto hairstyles are now being adopted by more and more people across the world. Adding some hair extensions is one of the most integral components of ghetto hairstyles. These extensions are used to weave the hair if needed to be able to create a volume on the hair as well as lengthening the hair’s natural length if in any case it is shorter. To be more stylish, ghetto hairstyles can be pulled up to form a bun with the use of gel on holding both sides. While the hair beneath can be straightened or curled up for a more different form.

Male Pattern Baldness

July 5th, 2009    Subscribe To Our Feed

Male pattern baldness are thought to be complex and are not completely understood. However, as suggested by its medical name (androgenetic alopecia), male pattern baldness seems to involve both hormonal (androgen) and genetic factors.

Male pattern baldness are strongly influenced by inheritance or your genes, and by an increased sensitivity of the hair follicles to male hormones. In particular, male pattern baldness is thought to be due to the breakdown of the male hormone testosterone to dihydrotestosterone within the hair follicle.

Generally, it is not uncommon for men to change their career paths because of hair loss. Male pattern baldness are extremely unhappy with their situation and would do anything to change it. These male pattern baldness are so desperate on finding a solution that they end up wasting lot of money in buying useless pills and lotions. These men suffer emotionally due to baldness as it makes them look ten to fifteen years older than they actually are. If you too have spent your money in vain searching for a cure or your baldness is making you look old, buy propecia a male baldness medication for hair loss treatment and see how it works for you.

Male pattern baldness are more likely to be affected by the hormones. There is no official cure for male pattern baldness but there are lots of methods available to assist in treating it. These range from slowing hair growth to transplanting follicles from other areas on the head.

Male pattern baldness are complex. Male pattern baldness are still not clear, but recent studies on hair growth are bringing up some interesting and important facts. New discoveries on energy metabolism, interaction between hair matrix and dermal papilla, and action of androgens are discussed along with their application to the production of new hair growth promoters. Typically, the gene that is responsible for it is passed down from the mother’s side of the family. Hormones such as testosterone and dht play a major role in male pattern baldness. Genetically determined characteristics of the hair follicles cause them to get smaller with age, leading to the inability of the follicle to grow a hair.

It is a design of the male pattern baldness to block the conversion of testosterone to dht. Topical application of minoxidil (rogaine®) and taking oral finasteride (propecia®) have been shown to inhibit this conversion and to increase hair growth, but both medications have been linked with several adverse side effects, including fast heart rate, headaches, impotence, and decreased libido. Saw palmetto and beta-sitosterol have been shown to block the production of dht in men suffering from enlargement of the prostate (or benign prostatic hyperplasia, which is also due to excessive amounts of dht), but this is the first study to demonstrate that these compounds also help with hair loss—and without causing significant side effects.

Male pattern baldness are rogaine, propecia, and medical hair transplants. Rogaine is commonly used as a topical solution to help follicle regrowth. This is a solution that you must first consult with your doctor. This is only a temporary solution as hair stops growing once you stop taking medication.
